M.Sc. in BIOTECHNOLOGY with intake 30

The Biotechnology department has been recognized as ‘Research Centre’ from Bangalore University for doing Ph.D., programme.

4 Semesters (2 years)

Any student with B.Sc. degree from a recognized university with Chemistry/Biochemistry and any two natural science subject Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Microbiology, Biotechnology as optional subjects (cognate subjects) and has secured 50% marks in the aggregate of all the three years (with a relaxation of 5% in case of SC/ST students) is eligible for admission to this course


The contribution of Chemistry to the growth of material Science is so profound that all technological advancements in both physical and Biological Sciences are result of epoch  making research findings of Chemists.  The revolutionary changes that have taken place from Stone Age to the present computer age in improving the life style and life span of human beings find roots in Chemical Sciences.

To put to optimum use, the expertise of the staff (human resource) and the physical infrastructure, the management of Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha started the post graduate course in Chemistry with specialization in Inorganic Chemistry in the year 1994.  Encouraged by the success and increase in the demand for admission, the management introduced the organic chemistry specialization in the year 2002 and Analytical chemistry specialization from the year 2014-15.

The department has a dedicated team of well qualified and experienced teaching faculty, well equipped laboratories and library to train the students.


  • 20 -Inorganic Chemistry,
  • 20-Organic Chemistry
  • 20- Analytical Chemistry

In each specialization 50% of the seats are filled by the Bangalore University and remaining 50% seats are filled by Management.

4 Semesters (2 years)

Any student who has studied B.Sc. Degree in a recognized University with Chemistry as Optional subject (cognate subject) and studied mathematics at the Pre-University or 10+2 evel, with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate of all the three years (with 5% marks relaxation for SC /ST students) is eligible for admission to this course.
